The Cuckoo Bird which triples in size and dwarfs the parent bird with its voracious hunger represents independence from the nest/family. While the pigeon leaves the nest through flight — avoiding conflict, the cuckoo bird faces conflict head-on with a loud voice. With each new molting, the Cuckoo Bird freely exhibits emotions traditionally deemed as "unfeminine", such as anger, frustration and assertiveness and does not apologize for her desire for love, sex, pleasure and power.
